English

Our curriculum for English Paper 1 focuses on both Content and Language components of the examination:
The techniques used to develop story content include use of newspaper articles and other media resources to make our students' writing more robust and authentic to the examiner. A clear and systematic approach is used to guide our budding writers, starting with the basic to the advance writing skills, so that they able to express themselves confidently and competently in their writings.

Our curriculum for English Paper 2 focuses on all the main components of this examination:
They include: Spelling, Vocabulary, Grammar, Synthesis and Transformation, Editing and Spelling, Comprehension Cloze and Open-ended Comprehension sections.

Besides exposure to a wide range of quality questions to reinforce their learning, our strengths also include clarity in explaining the underlying concepts in those questions. Our students are also taught the use of contextual clues and other effective answering techniques to help them tackle the different sections of the examination. We provide our students with customised worksheets and notes to help them learn at their own time. Our students' parents are also updated on the performance at our centre to ensure that learning is taking place.

Is learning English Tough?

Learning English at the upper primary levels can be tough! In order to do well in English, your child needs to be able to correctly answer difficult Grammar questions , learn a long list of words for Vocabulary and Spelling, know how to answer challenging questions on Synthesis and Transformation, tackle questions on Spelling and Editing, Comprehension Cloze and Open-ended Comprehension sections!

In addition, if you want your child to get an A for this subject, he also needs to do well in Paper 1 for Composition Writing and Situation Writing. There are also the other relatively easier components which your child is expected to do well like Oral and Listening Comprehension examinations.

HAVE NO FEAR! HELP IS HERE! At KIWI, our coaches are former school teachers with many years of experience teaching English at upper primary levels. This wealth of experience has provided us with the expertise and confidence to help your child overcome the challenges in this subject.

Over the years, we have seen many students struggling with English despite putting in the time and effort. We WANT to change that! With your child's positive attitude and diligence, and our proper guidance which includes clear and detailed explanations, clearing up of misconceptions, reinforcement of important concepts, teaching of effective exam strategies, and use of quality questions, you will see improvement in his work!
